At Brain Spice, we know homeschooling isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we’ve curated resources to help you personalise learning, spark curiosity, and feel confident in your choices - whatever your homeschooling style.
As homeschoolers know - learning can happen anywhere, and with anything - Puzzles, Toys, Science Kits, Games, Jigsaws, Books, Early Childhood, Teaching Resources, and more - homeschool families use all these items daily in a holistic approach to education.
We’ve grouped some of our favourite resources by subject, to help you explore hands-on tools that spark curiosity and learning in your homeschool journey.
Games aren’t just for fun - they’re powerful tools for learning. From maths and literacy to strategy and problem-solving, games bring lessons to life in memorable ways.
Whether you’re game schooling full-time or adding playful moments to your week, these games make learning engaging, effective, and fun!
Making Homeschool Work for the Whole Family.
In this collection, you’ll find some of our favourite handpicked items designed to help include or occupy younger siblings in a homeschool setting.
One tried-and-true technique (used by our resident homeschool mum) is to set aside special activities that are only brought out during lesson time with the older kids. This helps little ones look forward to learning time - rather than feeling left out or frustrated by it.
You can also make these activities loosely relevant to what the older kids are learning, helping the younger ones feel included and naturally curious about each subject.
Here are some examples:
◆
Let younger kids:
• Do a relevant jigsaw puzzle
• Flip through a picture book
• Practice fine motor skills with a handwriting book
◆
Let them:
• Play with blocks (just like manipulatives!)
• Make pictures with pattern blocks
• Solve age-appropriate puzzles (maths is just puzzles, after all!)
◆
Try:
• Exploring the backyard with a bug viewer
• Flipping through animal books
• Using sand and water tools for sensory play
• Digging for fossils with a paleontology kit
◆
Let them:
• Build with early childhood gears
• Create a marble run
• Explore shapes using Clixo or CONNETIX
◆
They might:
• Play with a themed Playmobil set
• Flip through history-themed books
• Colour in relevant scenes or characters
