Strategies for addition
StrADDegy – Developing addition strategies is specifically designed to provide students with a bank of strategies that will help them remember and use basic addition facts. The blackline master provides teachers with a clear explanation of each strategy and how it relates to the others in the book.
Each activity is set out in three parts:
- an introduction or ‘warm up’;
- the activity or ‘work out’; and
- the summary or ‘cool down’.
Teachers are also given a detailed ‘Materials list’ and suggestions are made as to the most appropriate student grouping for the activity, as an aid to classroom organisation. There is also a collection of generic maths resources at the back of the book, these are available for teachers to photocopy and use where appropriate.
